Aaron Lewis Releases Patriotic and Political New Song 'Am I The Only One'
Aaron Lewis has always been one of my favorite singers as the frontman of one of my favorite bands, Staind.
Many country music fans are also rock fans so it kind of made sense. Hit the scene hard with the most country shit you can think of, "Country Boy," then create a remix of it with Charlie Daniels and George Jones, throw a slower, stripped down version of one of the biggest country singles of the 2000's, "What Hurts The Most," and boom, you’re accepted. However, It's been a pretty rocky road for him in the genre since then, and it has nothing to do with his politics. For me, what I loved about his voice and song-writing in Staind didn't really reflect or carry over on any of his country records.
But for the first time in a while, that voice and those lyrics really made me proud to be an American (in a fucked up way, yes, considering the song is a plea to fix America and everything it's turned into) but I will say one thing, his passion and gut-wrenching vocals that made me love him in the rock genre, returned on this acoustic new song.
We all know where Aaron Lewis stands politically, and if not, one could only assume from hearing this song. Regardless, it's patriotic. It's real. It's emotional. And quite frankly, I'm sick of the bullshit as well.
