Lady Antebellum Changes Name To 'Lady A' Due To Slavery Reference
Grammy award winning group, Lady Antebellum, is no more.
Well, sorta. Today the group announced via social media they are dropping "antebellum" due to it's history. This comes after George Floyd's death and countless protests, the banning of the confederate flag at Nascar races, civil war statues being taken down and Roger Goodell, NFL commissioner, admitting he was "wrong" for the treatment of Colin Kaepernick and the kneel during the anthem.
Lady A says they are "regretful" and "embarrassed" for the name they've used this whole time. I'm not necessarily saying it was pointless or stupid to do, but Lady Antebellum and their name itself were the last things on my mind during these moments. I didn't see anyone calling for their name change either. Regardless, they've been called by their nickname, Lady A, for years.
