Morgan Wallen Answers Tough Questions In Interview With Michael Strahan
Today, Morgan Wallen appeared on Good Morning America for his first interview since he was caught on camera using a racial slur back in February.
Asked if that was the only time he's ever used the word and why he thought it was okay to say it, Morgan had to answer some pretty tough questions.
"I was around some of my friends and we say dumb stuff. In our minds, it's playful. That sounds ignorant, but that's really where it came from. I do understand, especially when I say I'm using it playfully or whatever, ignorantly, I understand that must sound like 'He doesn't understand.'"
Morgan also goes on to say that since the incident, he checked himself into rehab and also donated around $500,000, the amount from the spike in his album sales since the incident, to black organizations, BMAC being the first.
Asked if he "frequently" used the word, Morgan denied but did admit that he had used it with certain friends in the past. He says he never meant it derogatory, however. Being asked when the video was first released, Morgan said; "My manager called me probably two hours before the video came out...he was like 'Are you sittin' down?' and no ones ever called me and said that before."
