Randy Travis Releases First New Song Since 2013
One of the best voices in country music is back. (Well sorta..)
Ever since suffering a stroke in 2013 that severely damaged his vocals, Randy Travis has been (and still is) practically in recovery mode and isn't able to record new singles or perform live. However, this new single, "Fool's Love Affair", was originally recorded almost 30 years ago back in 1984.
Charlie Monk, one of the co-writers of the song, approached Randy and his wife to see if maybe he'd consider releasing the demo. The problem was that no one had been able to find the demo for years.
After a bit of time and luck, Monk eventually found the demo in his home and sent it down to longtime Randy Travis producer Kyle Leaning, where the song would get revamped and re-recorded with Randy's polished vocals from 1984 still on it.
The way this worked out is pretty damn cool. Excited for Randy.
